The University Greys, a Company of students from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), charges the Union lines during Pickett's Charge on the third day of the Battle of Gettysburg. At the end of the charge the Greys had suffered 100% casualties. Their story brings pride and honor to every student and alumni of Ole Miss. The University Greys were part of the 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. American Soldiers

The interpretive museum of the Adams County Historical Society encourages visitors to open a basement door in the new museum, to get an idea of what Gettysburg resident Sarah Brodhead saw. The painting here shows a small number of wounded soldiers who crawled into the building's basement July 2 and 3, but were unable to get out of several inches of water that flooded the basement and engulfed them July 4.
