 The Gebel el-Arak Knife is an ivory and flint knife dating from the Naqada II period of Egyptian prehistory, starting circa 3450 BC. The knife was purchased in 1914 in Cairo by Georges Aaron Bénédite for the Louvre. Coltello di Gebel el-Arak, avorio, Predinastico, Naqada II. Museo del Louvre. L'impugnatura del coltello è particolarmente interessante perhé mostra differenti tipi di imbarcazioni nella rappresentazione di una battaglia. L'altro lato dell'impugnatura, invece, presenta il motivo mesopotamico del "signore degli animali". Per questo motivo il coltello potrebbe provare la stretta connessione fra Mesopotamia ed Egitto in epoca predinastica.
