Another study concluded that children were consuming more food dyes than previously estimated. When you combine those synthetic dyes with the copious amounts of sugar in these products, that is just a recipe for lifelong health…

You may be thinking, “These dyes are used to color Easter eggs and flavor Christmas cookie frosting, so they can’t be all that bad, right?” Think again! . . . #naturalfoodcoloring #naturalfoodcolorings #naturalfoodcoloringforthewin

Companies are still using artificial coloring in the same products marketed to the United States.

The United Kingdom requires a warning label on products that contain the chemical-based color agents. Companies began to change their products to include the natural color agents (annatto & paprika extract) to avoid the negative association. The same companies are still using artificial coloring in the same products marketed to the United States. We hold the right to drive this change through the knowledge we have for the products we consume. Children of today are our leaders of tomorrow.

Food coloring can pose health risks.

Though limited research exists to prove that artificial food coloring is actually dangerous, the Center for Science in the Public Interest is pressuring the FDA to ban all food dyes, insinuating that food coloring can pose health risks, including triggering hyperactivity in children and perhaps worse, luring children into eating junk food. . . . . #naturalfoodcoloring #naturalfoodcolorings #naturalfoodcoloringforthewin #allnaturalfoodcoloring #healthyfood #thenewhealthy #foodcoloring…

What are artificial food dyes?

What are artificial food dyes? They are synthetic chemicals used to color food. They are commonly used in canned, frozen, dried and packaged foods, as the manufacturing process results in a food that is dull and lifeless-looking. Fake colors brighten things up, making canned cherries look more red or dried apricots more orange, for example. The trend of NATURAL COLORS is expanding as a result of their health effects beyond that of basic human nutrition. #naturalfoodcoloring…

In Europe, many products with food dyes have been taken off the shelves, labeled as dangerous.

Coloring agents Blue 1, Blue 2, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6 - These numerical hues might sound harmless, even right out of a Dr. Seuss book, but they’re code names for synthetic food dyes. These chemicals are common in the United States, and they’re used to make food more attractive and appetizing - especially for kids. Think: fluorescent juices, rainbow cereals, multi-hued candy. Just mix up a ratio of three-to-one water to white sugar (no other sugars or honey) and that will suffice. . . . . . #naturalfoodcoloring #naturalfoodcolorings #naturalfoodcoloringforthewin #allnaturalfoodcoloring

Will my homemade food dyes affect the taste of the food?

Will my homemade food dyes affect the taste of the food? This really depends on which method you used to make the coloring. Dyes made with the ‘boiling’ method are very dilute and their flavor is barely noticeable – you could even get away with using red cabbage water as a frosting dye, for example. If you feel you CAN taste your dye, you can easily mask it – in a frosting, a drop or two of vanilla should do the trick!
