Mike's Cornwall: The Noisy Squirrel Who Wanted More Food

The Noisy Squirrel Who Wanted More Food

We heard a heck of a row coming from our back garden first thing in the morning. We were immediately concerned in case an animal had been hurt. We traced the noise to a large tree in our garden and we could see a squirrel - a grey squirrel. We weren't too sure what was wrong because of the awful noise he was making. This finally stopped and the squirrel appeared okay as he was sitting on a branch. We went indoors and both agreed we never realised squirrels made such loud noises. I looked out…

I caught the thief red handed, the squirrel wasn't bothered and lingered in the bird house just in case there was a top up.

The Owl Sanctuary and Reflections Of An Owl's Eye

A while back there were owls in our local town. They were from the Screech Owl Wildlife Park near Indian Queens, Cornwall. As I had my camera with me I snapped a few photos and put some money in their bucket. One of the photos really caught my eye - as I saw my own reflection in the owl's eye! Not a very elegant pose. The Screech Owl Sanctuary isn't some sort of zoo for birds, they have admirable aims. To quote from their website: # To provide care and rehabilitation for sick and injured…

THE VICIOUS SEAGULLS

This fellow was checking out the sign and pleading his innocence! Must admit though that some of the seagulls have a definite taste for take-a-ways, sandwiches and chips. I saw one recently swoop down and snatch a child's cake - so there were floods of tears. The problem is that visitors will feed them - the seagulls, that is - so they take the easy option when looking for their lunch.
