Approximately two million old car tires are on the ocean floor off Fort Lauderdale in the U., dumped in the with the intent of creating an artificial reef. The tires are now scouring the ocean floor and wedging against the natural reef, killing coral.

The project is called "catch of the day" because it collects the trash which can be found on the beach: from condoms to aerosol cans, all the items were packed and sealed like a common freezer food item, and promptly left on display at farmer's markets. Saatchi & Saatchi LA and Surfrider Foundation worked together to raise the consciousness of people about sea pollution.

Surfrider Foundation teamed up with advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi LA to produce this environmental awareness campaign. They collected real trash from local beaches, packaged them up and brought them to local farmers’ markets.

Any time you go to a beach, pick up some trash. If you see trash, pick it up! At some beaches this can seem overwhelming, but getting rid of even a little bit of trash can bring major transformation.
