Can't get enough of them, and no garden is complete without a few,(or who am I kidding, ... dozens), of succulents, as well as some complementary bromeliads such as Dyckias and Aechmea recurvata cultivars that can handle full hot sun. I made this teeny weeny succulent garden to go inside the miniature macrame plant hanger I made from the book Microcrafts. See my book review on my blog :) It's less than 1" diameter, and all colour-mixed polymer clay - no paint!

Of all the succulents I grow, ghost plants are among the easiest and most remarkable. They are true survivors. Damaged stem? No problem. No water? The plant hunkers down and looks pretty much the same for months. Frost? It's gotten down to 17 degrees in my garden, and the graptopetalums were fine. Some of the beautiful things I saw while sightseeing with Margie. She'll be going back home to the snow very early tomorrow morning. I will miss her so much! It was such a special privilege to get to spend time with her. She is the sweetest, kindest & most generous soul I've encountered.
