Chief Washakie was born to a Flathead (Salish) father and and Lemhi Shoshone mother.His prowess in battle, his efforts for peace, and his commitment to his people's welfare made him one of the most respected leaders in Native American history. Upon his death in 1900, he became the only known Native American to be given a full military funeral.

Quanah Parker's Daughters. Daughters of the powerful Comanche War Chief who refused to accept the terms of the 1867 Medicine Lodge Treaty, which would have sent his band to Indian Territory. Quanah Parker remained free for the next seven years finally surrendering to General Randal MacKenzie and accepting the government's terms and confinement on a reservation.
